I put Juliet's nestbox in her hutch today! Hopefully she knows what its for and makes a nice warm nest! Her belly has gotten really big! I'm not very experienced when it comes to palpating rabbits so I can't say I know how many babies she's going to have, or if she'll have any. But looking at her or when I pick her up, I'd be pretty surprised if she didn't. I know the odds aren't in my favor of getting babies because she's a first time mom, its cold outside, and I'm sure there are probably a lot more but they have totally spaced from my brain as I'm writing this! Anyway I'm still Hoping an Praying for a nice healthy litter! Cross your fingers!!! I'll log on and tell you if I get any bunnies for Christmas!! :)

i finally was able to breed my bunnies! I'm pretty sure I will be having some Hollands! Lets hope they are born nice and healthy and they stay warm! Which they probably will because Juliet has been pulling fur since I got her.... not really sure why... But the Dwarf Hotot's are a different story. First I put Opal in Oliver's cage but she's a big doe and she just kept running away and jumped on top of Oliver's house. So I put some things up there so she couldn't then I decided to just leave her in there for the day and maybe she'll calm down and I'll get some buns! Lucy...I don't know... I'm really starting to question her gender. Anyway have a great weekend!
So I went out to check on my rabbits today and they all had frozen water dishes! I strongly dislike (hate is a mean word;)) frozen water dishes.
P.s might breed the buns in acouple weeks! So we went and got Lucy today! She's a very nice little doe! She's got a spot behind her ear though so she can't be shown... I hope she produces some nice babies!
Im so excited to say I will be getting another Dwarf Hotot doe! I will be picking her up tomorrow! She's really nice but she's a mismark. But she will be a great addition to my herd! I think Noah can show her since he will be a clover bud I'm so excited! This year has been great! I went 3 years with only one rabbit and now I've gotten 4 in 1 year! Maybe more! I plan on having a couple litters before the end of the year. Its highly possible they wont make it because all my does will be first time moms and its getting cold out. Pray, cross your fingers, and knock on wood!!
So today my grandpa, brother and I drove 2 hours north to Motley to pick up Faith. My new Doe Dwarf Hotot! I was soooooo excited! I've been waiting for so long to get a Doe! I guess that saying is true! Good things come to those who wait! She is such a sweetheart! When I was there looking at her Noah grabbed my carrier brought it over to Kim's van and grabbed faith and put her in the cage! She didn't even squirm or anything! I also had her out in the back of our van after we purchased her and Noah and my grandpa went into the barbers to get a hair cut. She was hoping around and exploring and being cute, when she licked my hand! It was the cutest thing ever! she just sat there and licked my hand for like 10 seconds!:) She was such a good little rabbit! I can't wait to show and breed her! :) Oh and her name was Faith but I think I might rename her Opal to go with all my other rabbits! Stay tuned for a breeding schedule!
So my birthday was a couple weeks ago but I haven't gotten to post in a while. I was planning on going to a funshow that day but my church field trip was changed to that day so that's how I spent Saturday. Then on Sunday we went to the Mall of America! I had a lot of fun! I was talking to a rabbit breeder and now I think I might be getting another Hotot! Hopefully we can meet and I can get
I just got back from the Minnesota State Fair and Soooooo happy with my results! First we had to take a rabbit interview test which was 20 really hard questions about different things about different rabbits. But it's separated into different age groups. My score was 10/20!!!! Which I guess was really good! The call back one was 11/20 so I was so close! Then at the Show when I brought Oscar up to the table and the judge said he was a very good rabbit but he's going through a fase where they don't look that great and then once they mature he should look really good and have great bone! That's normal for Holland Lops. Then when I went to the showmanship table I looked at the judge and frose because he looked just like the judge at Northeast Livestock Show last year. So I looked at his shoes because the judge had these really cool colorful shoes and he had the same ones! It was him! I did so terrible last year and I asked him if he had tips since it was my first show and he told me to be confident in my answers even if there wrong and to be very clear when you speak. Also to keep good eye contact with the judge at all times. So I went up to the table put Oscar on the table and kept watching the judge. I was very clear when I spoke and did my best to remember everything for the health check that I have learned. And it worked! I got a call back! Then I had to stand in the back of the building for 4 more hours(in the heat). By the time it was time for me to go back for the second round I was so tired, hot, and out of it so I just wanted to leave. He asked me what color he was and I said broken Orange then he asked me what made him that color and I didn't know. So after he judged everyone else he came back and told me he was actually a broken Tort because he has brown lacing around his ears and eyes and if he was orange he would have white lacing. So I thanked him and then we had to leave the table. Oscar made a new friend too! There was a little Holland Lop Doe behind him. They would sit at the corners of there cages next to each other even though there was like a inch of space between their two cages. They would also try to push there muzzles together! They would even lay down next to each other the same way and it was so cute!!!! The doe even had a little carrot chew block thing and the moved over by his cage and they shared it through the cages!!! People would probably say oh he's just a buck he doesn't care he'd go after any doe. But once the doe left the cage and a different doe was put in he sniffed around trying to see if his little Juliet was there. When he noticed she wasn't he turned around and didn't even pay attention to the other one. To his surprise when he got home she was there in the cage next to him! They greeted each other through the cages and then laid next to each other like they did at fair! It's the cutest thing ever! I know I said I was going to get a Doe Dwarf Hotot but there was only one there and she wasn't in that nice of shape and I don't even think she had a pedigree. But Juliet did and she's gorgeous!!! She got a purple ribbon and shes almost 2 months younger than him! I wish Oliver had gotten a state fair trip... He was so much nicer than all the other Hotot's there. His bands are nicer and thicker than others and some had spots. But maybe next year! It's so hot here! My bunnies have fresh bottles, I'm changing them as much as I can. Its almost 100 degrees here! I'm going to upload a couple pictures now! Enjoy the rest of summer!
I just noticed this didn't upload. Sorry for the late results... So I bring Oscar to the Minnesota State Fair tomorrow and I'm super excited! But the weather is supposed to be really hot:(( I love fairs, especially the State Fair but I don't like the heat... I'm also super excited because I will be looking for a Doe Dwarf Hotot. Eeeeeppppp!!!! So excited! Anyway gotta get the supplies ready!
Fairs over :( But I am so happy with the results!!! First With Oliver. I used Oliver for showmanship and we did really good! But I messed up the question he asked me about his fur. He asked me if his fur was rollback or flyback. In my head I was like Rollback! But do you ever have it when you think one thing but you say another and you don't realize it until it's too late! Well that's what happened to me. And I didn't notice it until it was too late! When the judge was done he looked like he was dissapointed or upset with everyone because we all had to retry to flip our rabbits. Oliver was good I only had to retry once but the others had to try a couple of times. I felt so bad for this one little girl who I think it was her first year in Intermediate Showmanship, she just couldn't get a good hold on her mini rex and it kept flipping back over. The judge was kind of rude though because she kept trying and he's like.... you should know this... I shouldn't have to keep telling you how to do this... I just felt so bad for her. I wish I could have helped her :( And at the end he's just like you guys should know the parts of your rabbits and how to do a proper health check. And in my head I was like you never asked me any questions on the parts of my rabbit? You asked everyone else! I knew the answers to everyone else's questions! I know where the loin and saddle are! But you didn't ask me!!!! So he gave the girl next to me the callback but I don't care it's just showmanship! But just a tip to all you rabbit people doing showmanship... Learn the Parts of the Rabbit!!! I will help!!!! When I brought Oliver up for Other small breeds The judge takes him says he has a nice small head but his coat is broken which is temporary and says I'll give him 2nd place blue literally like throws him at me and says you can leave know. I would've been fine with if but he didn't even look at the rest of him and how nice he is! And the fact that he like..lets say... tossed me baby at me! I would've been okay with the rudeness but I dislike when judges throw rabbits! I know it probably won't hurt the rabbit but you never know! And it's not like it helps the rabbits. I mean their already scared, throwing them around isn't gonna help anything! I don't want to sound like a brat or anything because I'm complaining but I don't like it when the judge just throws my babies. It's not just for my rabbit! It's for other ones to! okay I'm done. Now to Oscar! My New baby! He had the really nice judge Suzie! She was so nice! Like some of the Hollands ears where folded and not very round at the tip. She nicely told them and explained how they should be! And she didn't throw rabbits! She gently took the rabbits and then gently put them back! So I took Oscar up and she took him and said he was gorgeous! Which made me happy! There wasn't very many Hollands this year so they had them all up there and I listened to her talk about the seniors and she said they were a little long and one of their ears were folded. So when she was looking at him she said he was nice and short at the shoulder but he was a little rough by his butt. All I have to do is get some more fat on his back. She also said he had really nice ears, and since he's a junior it's hard to tell how they will do in the future but she said he looks good and gave him Champion of the junior Bucks!! You should have seen my face! I was all wide eyed mouth open and like THANK YOU!!!!!! So Oscar went up against 2 seniors and another holland that a little boy was holding on a bench. He didn't bring it up before I think he might not have heard the call for Hollands but he had a nice rabbit! I'm pretty sure it was older than Oscar and it had a more matured face. So the 2 seniors got Grand Champion and the other Holland got the state fair line up call back. I was okay with it I didn't even expect Oscar to do better than a blue so that was awesome! But then on Saturday I came into the barn and theres the barn leader and the people who run like the livestock like fair projects and stuff saying have you checked the list in the cafe? (It's a list of people who place the highest and are elidgeble for state fair trips) And I said I haven't looked at it and they said your on it! I was like what? And they were like you have a state fair trip if you want it with your Holland! So long story short my new baby Holland is going to The Minnesota State Fair!!!! I'm soooo excited!!!
